Just a quick note to anyone having trouble installing SAS (Base or Enterprise Data Miner) in VMWare Fusion on Mac:
If you run setup.exe and the splash screen for the SAS deployment wizard spins for a while and then mysteriously disappears, the remedy is as follows:
1. Turn off Folder Sharing for your VM (the SAS installer writes to some temporary files and doesn’t like the remapping of the home folder to the mac file system)
2. Run setup.exe as Administrator
Once you have installed SAS you can turn Folder Sharing back on.
The MIT Technology Review has covered a fascinating paper that concludes : “The way people copy each other’s linguistic style reveals their pecking order.”

An interesting read on side channel attacks:
“The second story was about USB devices. Basically, they plugged a very precise voltmeter into an USB port and started recording the very small variations between 4.999V and 5V. With the same assembly-test-program-pattern-matching approach, they broke RSA again.” Link.
This is just a quick post for anyone who runs into a problem with graphing in SPSS v18 on Mac OSX Lion.
When looking for a solution I came across a few links:

Both looked very promising but refer to a nonexistent IBM Support page where one can download patches to remedy the issue.
Being unable to download the files from the IBM support site I found direct links to download the files I needed. I’ve posted them here in the hope of saving people some time.
